    To do what?
MKV GTI is the most sporty & comes in 3 or 5 door

Skoda RS has the same engine but the chassis/suspension is 10% softer. The vehicle is heavier so the brakes work harder. More than double the boot space though. Also a choice of sedan/hatch or wagon.

Pogo is only 3 door isn't it? A full class smaller than the other two. Has the old school 1.8 5valver. Only 5 speeds?

All 3 were on my shopping list. The kids hated the Pogo. The dealer thought the GTI was gold plated & priced it accordingly. The vRS was my pick until the dealer offered me the Elegance spec for $12k less & I realised that I spend 90% of my life stuck in traffic on a motorway. function & the mighty$$$ beat the badge.

      Hi Brad..
I meant the new 2010-11 polo gti 1.4ltr engine..all three will probably in the same price range..just wanted to know which one would be good pick in terms of driving pleasure..i m sure octavia RS will be the most practical choice in terms of spcae..but will it be close to GTIs in terms of driving pleasure?

Depends how/where you drive. The only way to find out is to drive all three on a known test road under your normal driving conditions.

Personally, I wouldn't have the GTI as my first choice. Too jiggly for me.

I haven't driven the latest Pogo.

I love driving my mid-spec Skoda. It does everything i need. Infact, my wife brought home a new Mondeo Titanium diesel/dsg wagon a few weeks back & after driving it, I told her it was "Very nice but I'll stick with the Skoda"

edit: Keep in mind the Golf & Octavia have already depreciated, so the depreciation on the Polo GTI would take some of the fun out of it. Also, Skoda is bringing the Fabia (vRS not confirmed) to Australia which should undercut the Pogo.

I too bought the Octavia RS, mainly for the much larger and more practical boot space compared to GTI (I have 2 young kids)... I test drove the GTI and enjoyed it, agree with Brad GTI has a bit firmer ride which would be fine if I was a single bloke but given my wife and kids will use the car more than me, I found the ride comfort in the RS to be well-balanced while still provding 8/10ths the 'fun factor' of the GTI when I press hard thru corners. Highly recommend it. As with any used car, a good look at the service history is paramount, and knowledge of the previous owner would be advantageous.

Apples for apples really. GTI is probably 10-20% sportier but the Octavia is 20-30% more practical. Also, because of the Octavia's apparent lower resale be able to get you a better one than a Golf for the same price (even if you take into consideration the RS' better equipment levels). On carsales there are some for like $32-35k with around 10,000kms on them.

The Polo is interesting because a new car that would drive the same as both yet is smaller and nimbler is tempting. I wouldnt buy the Polo GTI simply because theres no manual available and if you want that truly sporty feeling then a manual is it for me. That's just my 2c; we know that they're all excellent cars as VWAG would be certain of when they left their respective factories.
