Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Sup guys,

I'm from Johannesburg, South Africa *puts on flame suit for cricket references hehehe*

I currently have a Polo 9N 2.0. Previously I had a MKV GTi with Stage 2 mods (76mm downpipe, Forge TwinTake and Phase2 software from FRC). I had to let my baby go as I'm getting married in September and I wanna buy a place.

There's a wealth of info on here for the 2.0 8V found in the MKIV Golf as well as in my Polo. Locally there's not much available and while I know it's a bit of a donkey, I need some help with which cam can be used etc. I'll be hounding the guys in the know in the technical sections for this.

    Welcome to the forums mate.
The NA 2.0 isn't really as tunable as the 2.0T so apart from air intake and exhaust you won't really get much out of it unless you pour money into it.

BBest bet is to go for handling mods such as lowering suspension and wider/lighter wheels.

      Thanks man,

Yeah, I'm not planning to go mad with it. Just a cam (272/276 split cam) if I can find one. Apparently the BBX motor uses a roller rocker setup and there are no cams available for it. Someone on VW Vortex mentioned that the valve train is exactly the same between BBX and the AVH/BEV motors found in the Golf MkIV, so I don't see why cams for those motors won't work in the Polo, then finish it off with a 57mm exhaust system and Revo tune. Just want it a bit nippy, I know it won't get anywhere close to the 2.0T.
