Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 2007 MK5 upgrade

    Hi all,

    Joining to learn how best to spend some money on my 2007 GTI

    Get it serviced on time & buy good tyres

    Apart from that - the best value performance mods are to get it chipped & chuck on a rear sway bar
    2006 MkV 2.0TDI -> 2005 MkV GTI -> 2008 MkV R32 -> 2013 Polo 77TSI + 2016 Mk7 Golf R Wagon

      Yeah well thats exactly where I am, its almost due for its 60,000km service, its just gone out of warranty, so Im trying to figure out whats best to do.
      Im thinking get the 60k km service done (should I take it to official VW or move to a third party?), and then get the mod chip done. Ofcourse that then leaves me to decide between the never ending gaia vs APR debate!
      Aside from that yes I could use some new tyres soon, and Id like to get a good detail done.

      Any other suggestions? I dont really want to go too nuts spending thousands on exhausts etc at this stage, but willing to spend a few grand all up.

      Cheers!
