Hi fellow VDubbers,

Just a shout out from a new VW Tiguan “owner to be” as per the newbie rules.
Don’t normally take part in forums, but I do have to say that this one has given many many interesting and educating hours of reading when I stumbled across it and I am looking forward to being part of such an enthusiastic and active group of fellow VW owners / fans.
Recently ordered and am currently waiting on delivery of (with great anticipation and excitement) a brand new 125TSI (5N) Tiguan.
My wife & I were in the market for a mid sized family car (to cope with our two rug rats) that has some visual appeal, great handling, safe and well made. Add to that my input for something that is also fun to drive.
Did some initial research on different makes / models and culled the field down to the Tiguan. You just can’t go past it. Have been a fan since the came out back in 08.
Then it was either diesel or petrol (gotta be petrol – don’t get me started), then 125 or 147. Test drove the lot, and while the 147 with paddles was nicer inside, the 125 won out (TDI wasn’t even a contender (poor thing) though if you are looking for a diesel, it’ll get my recommendation).
Breaking down the specs, I couldn’t justify the extra cost of the 147 being as it’s basically the same foundation. My two kids will likely (well, attempt to anyway) trash the interior anyway, so the 147 wasn’t all that appealing.
So SO glad we made that decision, especially after finding this site.
It took me all of 2 hours after the order sign up to find out what tunes could be made for the new toy, with APR being the most validated and this site coming up a lot in my searches.

Finally allocated some time in the past few days to really read through some of the VWW posts. Once again, glad I did.
Special mention to posts/threads made by team_v, Sharkie, krracing, Captain Bungers, Guy_H, to name just a few, especially Team_V’s Tig thread, as the discussion and information I have read through has been amusing & educating, not to mention seeing the figures on what can be done to a 125TSI Tig.
Happy days ahead!!
As a new VW owner/member, I didn’t really know what to expect to pay for the Tiguan.
We orderd the new 4Mo 7-speed DSG 125TSI in Deep Black with Comfort, Fog, Bluetooth, MDI + Ipod Cable, Roof Bars and carpet mats for under $42k drive away; which based on some of the reading I have done on this site seems like a fair price.
So you won’t find any buyers remorse here
.
Now just hanging to get our hands on it!
On a sider, I also took out the new Polo GTI for a test drive... nearly signed up for that too. What a fantastic little car!
However, let’s just take delivery of the Tig and see how we go, especially as I wanna see what APR can do with the white one they recently took delivery of
Guess that’s a long winded ‘hello’
