Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • So "newb" I don't even own a VAGmobile..... yet!

    Hi All,

I'm in the market for an Ibiza Cupra (or maybe two), hence my choice of username, so I'm after some advice which I will seek in the appropriate section.

My current stable or cars is as follows:
95 Barina GSi - daughter's car but we'll never see it due to being ripped off by a lowlife from Coffs Harbour.
    96 Barina GSi - son's car
01 Barina SRi (see a trend here??) - wife's car and soon to be gone once it stops bleeding $$$ due to faulty ECU and related issues.
07 Fiesta XR4 - my car for the time being

My daughter's car is a long story but you get the general idea from what I stated above. She doesn't have her license yet but she's not that far away so I need to arrange another car for her and my wife's car needs to be moved on asap after I get a faulty ECU fixed and can get rid of all the warning lights off the dash.

The plan is to get an Ibiza Cupra to replace the SRi as I want a car that I can do track days with once in a while. I thought the Fiesta XR4 would be good for that but it has an inherent major weakness in the power steering department (due to Ford being cheap and lazy), so I may shuffle it across to the good lady wife as she seems to like driving it. That will leave me with the Cupra to punt around in.

No doubt you'll see me stick my head up in various sections as that's what I tend to do after first joining a forum. I can be a bit of an instant expert (just add alcohol) however I'll try to kerb myself, at least until I get a better feel for things around here!
