Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • SA Hi all.....back in a Dub!

    Hi There,
I am Darren from Radelaide and have just returned to the VW fold with the purchase and delivery today of my 'new' one owner '76 Mk1 Scirocco.
Cars are a disease for me as my ever tolerant wife can attest to. My VW history started with a long term relationship (9 years) with a B4 VR6 Passat which was slightly modified. I bought it when I was young and couldn't afford it really. It damn near sent me bankrupt, but I learned alot about all sorts of things with that car. Fast forward a few years and I entered the world of Aircooled land with a 67 rat look Beetle. We had a few years of cheap, clean fun, Boris and I....best 'Rat Look' 3 years running at Volksfest SA.
    Currently I drive a 1972 Mercedes 230.6 as a daily, also have a 1969 BMW 2002 (wife's toy), 1959 Mercedes 190 and a 1963 Chev Corvair (currently on Ebay).
I now have a new love.....1976 Mk1 Scirocco which was privately imported by the previous owner in 1978 after he couldn't bare to part with it when he emmigrated from the UK. He hung up his licence last year after his 90th birthday... I promised to look after his car whole heartedly as he had.
I will start a thread on this car really soon after I get some decent pics taken and also show you my other loves.
Looking forward to becoming part of this thriving community and learning as I go.
I'll be sticking around a while because I'll never ever be selling my 'rocco.
    Cheers, Darren
