Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Hey there all!... keys anyone??

Gday all and Happy New Year!

We recently bought a 2004 gen 4 golf sport.. a nice ride with great creature comforts.. and no surprises.. we love it.

So I began learning the ropes with this car, I usually do the distances in a huge fuel thirsty 4x4

My only complaint with the new set of wheels is it only came with one key And recently I began to investigate a replacement unit..... WTF???? How Much??? Why????

    OMG!!!!

I now know how dealers afford such nice lounges and display buildings.... they charge like wounded bulls for the accessories. I expected some premium charges for a genuine key.. to be honest I expected about $200.00.... but can someone explain why there is justification to nearly $700.00? a fob key and built in remote!!! Nooooo waaaaaayyyyy!

so what suggestions are out there to replace our lost key. We have one key with remote, and need a second. Any ideas?

Hope your year is brilliant, and thanks for reading this.

    Cheers

    Alby
