  • NSW Hi all - Newbie

    Hi Everyone,

Thinking of going down the R36 Wagon path - although with reservations about potential reliability.

Current car (hey I know it's a little boring) - Lexus GS450H - only reason I'd get rid of it is because I need the flexability of a wagon).

    Previous cars (in order) - Audi S4, Audi A8, 996 Porsche, Lexus GS300, Another GS300, BMW M3, BMW 328i, Nissan 300zx......etc etc.

    Wife: Lexus LS430, BMW 740IL, Merc 300EV24.

I've never purchased a new car - normally buy them at about 30k or so.

Now - for the hard truth. All the german cars I've had (and I mean all of them); have had some niggling problems. Most minor, but pain in the backside stuff. Out of 4 lexus's I've replaced one shock absorber.

The more I read about VW, the more forums I come across about little problems. I doubt if you can find too many about Lexus (although you will find a lot about 'boring' etc).

    Convince me!

hey mate my brother owns a r36 wagon bought new from dealer, only thing he has had stuff up is something to do with the radio or something along those lines, but then again there was a recall on the wiring loom so thats probably where the issue lay.

Go drive an r36 and let yourself decide, i doubt any lexus' (maybe the f series will) would be able to compare to all round feel of the r36. if youre buying new from dealer youll have your warranty also which means 'trouble free motoring' lolol.

All in all ive heard the r36 to be quite reliable! best bet is check out the passat section in this forum and just browse to see what issues have come up with members r36s'.
