  • VIC First post - looking to buy new Polo/Golf GTI (maybe GTD)

Hello all. I was first interested in the VW Golf about 3 years ago but when I saw the Mark V was being EOL'd, I thought I'd wait and see what Mark VI brought. Then my mate was raving about the new Polo GTI so I gave that a look recently. I'm currently tending towards a 5-dr CW DSG Golf GTD, but I haven't actually taken any Golf for a test drive, just the Polo GTI. Intend to look at the BMW 1-series again, but have also looked at the Audi A3 and Volvo C30.

I must admit that when I first started looking at the Golf GTI a few years back, I was disappointed it did not have keyless start. I had looked at a couple other cars eg. Ford Mondeo, BMW 1, and I'd decided keyless start was something I really wanted. So given the MY11 update, and still no KESSY for the Australian market, I'm still disappointed. I see that the USA are getting it, and from the youtube videos I've seen, WOW!!! I really want it. Why oh why do we not have it here?

It's interesting doing research and finding out things that are not quite obvious. Such as getting MDI installed. Factory-fitted, it's in the centre console, dealer-fitted, it's in the glovebox. I really like the centre console on the Golf and would hate to lose it for the MDI, but I guess having it in the glovebox may not be the most convenient place.

    Kerr,

I'm also looking to buy new (tossing up between GTI and R), and just as you, am seriously disappointed that VW Australia don't bring all the great new features here..

Like the Smart Key and LED Golf "R" rear Lights (which are now an option over there) and standard on the "Autobarn" package...

    Sucks!
