  • Greetings from South Africa

    Hey everyone,

I'm Matteo. I drive a 2005 Polo 1.9TDi Sportline. I'm based in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. I recognise a few names from a couple of the other forums. I can't believe it's taken me this long to register and post here, but I look forward to learning loads more and chatting with you all.

    Ciao, Matteo

Here are a couple photo's of my car as it stands at the moment.

I've almost finished with the OZ's, last things to do are to apply the last of the OEM stickers and to paint the wheel bolts black.

After that, it's time for something that's taken over a year to get around to doing, and finally, it should be arriving in January 2011 - I hope.

I'll start a rides thread soon.

    Ciao, Matteo.

You should visit Australia...Golfs,Jettas,Polos,Passats,Tiguans,etc are common place, and are seen everywhere.

The brand is getting stronger and stronger, almost like it is in SA...

        Hey Anthony,

I would love to visit Australia, and plan to do so one day, with having some family there.

It's good to hear the brand it strong there - I live in Port Elizabeth, which is basically where the VW factory is (technically Uitenhage, which is about 30km's from PE).

Thanks AusScare. I couldn't believe my luck when I saw them come up for sale - I spent a year or two looking for a set of OZ's like these.

                Hey GoLfMan,

Thanks for the comments bud - yeah - the name Sooty came about from the amount of Soot that was going to be produced in the coming months, LOL. I've now enjoyed 2.5yrs of great motoring with Sooty, I'm a TDI enthusiast.

                I used Lamin-x Gun-smoke on my headlights - Lamin-x.

                Ciao, Matteo.

                      Buller_Scott,

You might have me confused. I don't think I have a build thread on TDIClub, although I am a member and post there, but I do have a build threads on VWClub, TDISport and UK-Polo.net.

I haven't changed head etc. but I am running DevilsOwn Water/Meth Stage 2 twin nozzle setup, custom remap, EGR delete, mufflerectomy, Koni coilovers to name a few mods.

Thank you for the welcome though!

Ah yeah, awesome - do you miss SA at all? I'm sure you're looking forward to the visit though.

Sorry to hear about your Jetta being beaten by the hail.

I'm excited about the new Jetta and look forward to what the modders have in store.

I do miss my freinds and family very much in SA,and it is a beautiful country ,but I am settled in Australia now,and enjoy the lifestyle and freedom here.
I was devestated by my loss of my Jetta, but deceided to have a change, and the Accord is a brilliant car too.

Lets wait and see the new Jetta,I beleive it will, for the first time ever,NOT be built in SA,it will be fully imported in from Mexico...

Yours also came standard with the VNT17VB turbo didnt it?

Mine's getting FMIC, EGR delete, custom tune ASAP.

my car's the one that pop's up in the header occasionally

GoLfMan, originally the Polo Sportlines here came with VNT1749VA's. There was a recall of over 4500 TDI's here, which I saw you guys had a thread on, to do a campaign on replacing the turbo's with a newer higher specced version. In terms of what it's running now, I think it's just an uprate VA, and not a VB. The Seat Ibiza Cupra's used VB's.

Awesome - you'll notice lovely gains with the FMIC & tune. Of course the EGR delete has no performance gain, besides the stopping of sooted intake manifold. If yours is sooted badly, if it a good clean and you might notice a slight improvement in performance.

Awesome stuff - there are some lovely cars in the header images!
