Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Engine number location

Hi, does anyone know where the engine number is located on the 1.2 TSI Polo? I know where the chassis number is (both locations) but I can't seem to find the engine number. I just wanted to cross check that this matches the registration with the Road Transport Department. I would imagine that the engine number would be imprinted or engraved somewhere on the engine, but I can't seem to find it. Any help is appreciated.

Your owners manual will have a sticker in the front of it with the engine number.

I don't know about the 1.2 motor but the engine number on the 1.4 motor is on the back of the engine above the transmission and below the coolant flange.

Thanks Rob. I tried looking in there but it was pretty hard to see. Will probably try using some mirrors. Anyway, thanks for your reply.
