  • MDI and BlueTooth functnality

    Hi,

I'm newly registered, but have followed threads on this site for some time. I am a prospective VS Tiguan buyer - and I was hoping to learn from existing owners via this forum. Dealers find it hard to answer some of the questions below - and don't normally have a unit available for me to test. Whish is why I'm turning to the 'end-users'.

If I buy - I will include the RNS510 SATNAV. I am also interested in the MDI option, and also the BlueTooth module. Assuming I get the MDI option

    (a) If I do not use an iPhone, but instead a regular (modern) phone like an Android with a min-usb out of it - what can I expect from the MDI interface to provide:
I'm assuming I can stream music that is stored on my phone only if I select the tracks on the phone and press play on the device - and not by selecting the tracks on the
    RNS510 ?

    (b) What if I a using an iPhone, does the RNS510 show me album and track selection on the SATNAV screen for selection and play ?

Also - (c) Is an iPhone CHARGING when plugged into the MDI outlet ?

Making phone calls in the car:

    (d) Is my assumption correct when I say this has nothing to do with the MDI interface, but only comes into play when I have a blueTooth module added into the car, and, a BlueTooth paired mobile phone ?

    (e) If I have the bluetooth module and a paired phone, can I use voice activation to recall a contact that is in my phone for dialing ?

    (f) Finally - if I do not intend to ever own a dedicated MP3 player, but instead, would only carry music around with me on my bluetooth enabled phones (iphone or other) - would the MDI interface be redundant, and BlueTooth Audio take it's place ?

Sorry for so many questions - ,...
