Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • GTi tuning Melbourne

    Hi everyone,
Been doing a bit of searching for a good tune shop in Melb. Have a VY11 R8 clubsport, thinking about down sizing but not down powering. Always loved Golfs, used to be a VW mechanic.
If i get a GTi it would need around 250kw for comparable pwr/wt ratio. So was thinking a 04 turbo, ECU tune, CAI, from there how far to go with the exhaust & intercooler?.
    Any replies/ideas gratefully received.
    Cheers
    Briby

hmmm... Not to sure about 04's buuuttt... You'll need a better/bigger intercooler. Audi s3 intercooler, or another aftermarket one. And exhaust, once again not sure about size, but 3" dp.

how about a 06? goes faster.

With that youre list is, CAI, 3" exhaust, s3 or other aftermarket intercooler, and then you can go stage2 REVO/GIAC/BLUEFIN/APR tune. or stage2+ if you get a High flow fuel pump (HPFP)

I think he was talking about the k04 turbo? I might be mistaken though.

A mate of mine has a VY LS2 Clubsport, with UNI chip and exhaust.. and I left him for dead in 1st, 2nd and towards the end of 3rd (about 160km/h) Only after that he started to catch up and passed me at about 180km/h.

I was still stage 2 back then, so without the HPFP and stage2+ tune.

          For 250kw'ish

K04, injectors, tune, intake, full "3 exhaust with custom dump pipe and high flow cat, intercooler upgrade..... and I would argue an LSD centre.
