  • Stews 2007 VW Polo GTI

    Hi All

I picked up my new car yesterday, traded in my 2008 Suzuki Swift Sport for a 2007 VW Polo GTI, and am very very pleased with the decision. Cost a little to swap but well worth it, i felt right at home after 2.5 years of being out of a VAG car.

This is my first time with a 1.8T, so know very little about them, so will be hitting up the forum for loads of advice, im a TDI man through and through so this new petrol turbo malarky is all new to me.

Only pic i have at the mo is the before and after here :-

Still finding my feet with it, getting used to the gear changes and playing with cruise which is great for the big distances.

The 1.8T is a potent little package.

you should swing by Milton tonight for the Brisbane VW get together.

        Oh well, worth a shot
Hopefully we can get you out sometime soon.

The 1.8T's respond quite well to a few simple modifications if you are into that sort of thing.

Otherwise in stock form they still go pretty decently.
        Main limitation is traction.

Ecu remap, seat intake, something about an N97 valve removal, light weight wheels and you should be moving!
I heard the Seat intercooler is a massive increase over stock but no one here has done it as they generally use Forge.

Check out Plautos's thread in the polo section, he has done a lot of work on his.

cool, done a look around at remaps, $1400 for a APR one, bit too much for me at the moment as had to fork out for the car. Ive asked on another thread about the SEAT intake, as these might be hard to get hold of now.....

                Welcome.

Chip, few options there. Updated diverter valve to help hold the new boost. Many other options, but these will get you going. Seat pipe is good with the chip.

Handling is ok, when you want more be prepared to spend a few hundred for a basic upgrade or 1-2k to get it flying.

                Enjoy...

I just got a giac chip for my Audi for $600 US, which is great right now with the dollar doing so well, plus shipping to and from, this is from GMG racing (google it) I dont know about VW but same motor, what is better is that you probably have the drive by wire gear, my chip is a once off mod, every mod you do can be tuned in for optimal gains, very cool, call them up before 9am any day because that is knock off time for them over there, see how you go.

So that's what they look like when clean...

This was mine with the last rims, lowering does wonders for the looks ( with a nice set if rims)

                        very nice!

It didnt stay that clean for long, by the end of day one it was dirty. The wheels get brake dust on them real quick compared to the swift it would seem.

The brakes are pretty bad for dust.
I would reccomend getting a sealant and covering the wheels in it to make for easy cleaning of brake dust.

Are you coming to the Euro Xmas meet?
