Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hi guys. Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately NSW Consumer Affairs only deal with Dealer sales and Private sales are a civil matter. It seems that when you have problems that are a civil matter, the law has very little to offer. There are a couple of options I am still looking into but a more 'persuasive direct method' will probably be the best solution for a quick result. If anyone knows of someone that is good at this sort of debt recovery, please PM me.

Sorry to hear about that, you should definitely contact the police or something. Did you document the deposit etc?

At least you should contact carsales and stop them from ripping others off!!

Ps. In the opening post you said debt recovery... i'm not sure if this scenario class as debt recovery... but i know someone who works at http://www.ledgestone.com.au/ they are very good at their job. no upfront fee, they charge a percentage of the recovered money.

I think that means that the deposit should be yours to head around and collect. Maybe it is time for a cruise around to pay them a visit and ask for it back politely?

lol that's funny, good luck to them trying to sell now after putting repairable write off. I don't get why they didn't just write it off in the first place?

In most cases i've heard repairable write off is actually ok to drive IF the mechanics are good, but even so no one would go near a car or consider it.

They dropped the price from 35000 to 32000 because they got the deposit of a buyer already and refuse to return it lol

PS they are going "overseas" aka changes to written off vehicle management??

The reason that Pirelli is a repaired write off is due to it being damged by fresh water... i am in the process of finding the missus another car and communicated with the owner via email as 2 why this car is a repaired write off and that was the answer i was given, not sure how bad it was damaged and im yet 2 view this car.
