Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Well Hello VWWatercooled!!

I've been looking at this site for years trying to get answers to any problems etc. I've had, so firstly thank you to everyone for helping wherever you can!!

Secondly, I'm meant to say something about my car.. well.. she's not much, but I love her. I've had a lot of good times with her.. I even proposed to my wife (the other 'her') while we were sitting at a lookout - a lot of good memories attached. She's a Mk3 Golf CL.

Not much under the hood, just a high flow air filter. I've fitted some upgraded suspension (Bilstien struts and Einbach springs) and she almost sticks like a proverbial to a blanket!! Stiffened antiswaybar would help even further I've fitted some 17's to her due to cracking the original rims after losing it on a roundabout which wrote her off. No insurance was a pain.. I had to rebuild the entire front end inc. suspension. I was lucky that the engine and the rest of the mechanics were okay. The outside needs a few touches here and there to get it to a 'tidy' place.

Anyway, enough about that.. I'm looking forward to having a chat to y'all.. Maybe going to some meets around Brissie (if any??).

Next on my list of things to do (does it ever end!!??) is replace the slipping clutch. Grrr... Any ideas on what to go for? I fitted an Exedy clutch about 2 years/60000km's ago, and mostly used in city driving, so I think it's lasted okay. Ideas??
