Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Unfortunate trouble with my Pasatt

    Hi everyone,

I'm have been a VW fan for many years, my first car was a 67 bug, since then I've had a Kombi, A 68 Fastback, a Polo and for the last few years a Passat. I bought a turbo diesel 2007 wagon, new, and have thoroughly enjoyed driving it and had hoped to hang onto to it for a while. It now has about 55k on the clock and is six months out of warranty. Last week when my wife was driving, the car just stopped with seconds to pull over. (she told me that yellow coiled symbol came up on the screen) We were low on diesel but had been lower (60-70km left on the screen). Tried through VW assist to flood-start the car after I had put another 10 litres of diesel into the tank. This did not work and then had to get the car towed to the Dealer in Mascot, Sydney. the dealer did not respond for a few days but finally came back to tell me that they would have to replace the wiring tray and all of the fuel injectors, the cost being about $5000. The dealer then told me that they would replace all items and that VW would pay for the lot!! Call me a cynic but this sounds suspicious! has anyone had a similar experience? Is this an ongoing problem with this model of car? I keep on wondering what would have happened if we where out on the open road and this had occurred?
