Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    OooKaaay.
I have a 3yo ( bought new by me ) silver T5, 2.5ltr 4motion with factory sunroof, colour coded bumpers, factory side windows, DP chip and lined out in marine carpet and sound insulation ( got that noice German oem rubber sponge mat on the floor too ).
Love it. Had the 2wd T5 2.5ltr for 3 years before this one and a few dubs in my past - 72 beetle being the first and various gti's. My brother had a G60 Corrado back in the UK in the mid 90's, lovely thing it was.
Enjoying the info sharing to be found within this site - v useful.

I got them today thanks. Unfortunately the OEM Touareg wheels I wanted them for, have 2 lips / faces on the inside face that mates to the hub. The spacer diameter on the units from yourself are too small an external diameter to cover both the lips, they need to be 160mm diameter. Have found a supplier in the US, so it's OK. I'll put the spacers back up here for the $100 and see how I go.

ouch. not too sure what you mean by that though, 160mm diameter??? why is it like that?

The inside face of the rim effectively has a circular groove machined in the alloy about 15mm wide, so it is a lower area than the face - it's basically a concentric circle of machining, right where I don't want it. When you offer up the smaller ( car ) diameter spacer, it doesn't bridge across to the second area of machined face. The larger diameter spacer will cover the groove and reach the second area of machined face giving a more stable mating surface. They are oem rims, so maybe replicas don't have this type of internal face machining ?

hmmm ok sounds like your wheels have two locating parts as opposed to one, weird!

the spacers are designed for oem wheels, only thing i can think of is that the Tourag is different to the reset of the dubs for some reason...

seems like they have a 5x130 stud pattern? that wouldn't work anyway?

they only have a limited selection on ecs for the toureg so seems like they definetly do need special spacers...

Yep, my mistake with the 5x112 spacers. The 2.5T5 is 5x120, so I'll re-sell them, no problemo.
The wheels I got are Genuine VW 'Sport 395' 9x19 offset 60 Touareg wheels for the original R5 Touareg. Fitted straight on the T5 ( even centre bore was perfect and I could use original bolts with the dished seating washer ). Fitted Kuhmo 245/45x19 102 load rated tyres - They cleared the rear arch liner by a good 7mm, the front passenger side tyre just touches the engine mount on absolute full lock one way, but not enough to bother me - you can't hear or feel it. Drivers side is clear on full lock both ways.
Outcome is better 'rolling feel' and smoother ride that the 18's. Only downfall will be that the alloy wheel rim is now beyong the tyre, so touching a kerb will be easy, but I'll be carefull. They look really tough, so won't be modifying ride height and the quality shows too. Pictures to follow ( will clean her up when the rain stops ! )
