Hey everyone,
Ive been a long time reader on here, but have just joined now
Im in Victoria, and possibly on the lookout for a manual R32. At the moment im yet to drive one, but keen to find out as much as i can
Im also comparing it to a manual BMW 130i. I guess this might not be the right place to talk about that car, but have plenty of questions about the R32
Heres some off the top of my head:
1) Is there anything I should be wary of when searching for a used R32. I'd be hoping for one with <50,000kms
2) What year/month did the change occur to the newer 10 spoke design and the full MFD in the speedo. I called my Insurance company, and they told me there was a Jan 08 model, then a May 08 update... is there a difference?
3) Was bluetooth standard at any point in time? Was it optional... people's opinions on it?
4) Fuel consumption. I know this is subjective, but what do people tend to average?
5) I know the majority of people will have the DSG, but i feel i'm going to be leaning towards a manual. Do people have any good/bad comments about the manual transmission?
6) The all wheel drive. Reading up on how the version of the Haldex works in the R32, it obviously requires a degree of slip before the rears contribute more. When this occurs (say on a hard launch in the wet), how does it feel when the power transmits to the rear? it might sound like a weird question, but i always remember a similar type of system in a friend's Mazda 6 MPS... when the rears kicked in there was this BAD driveline shunt, which you could feel. The grip was obviously there, but it wasn't the best experience. Can owners comment on how the R32 compares?
I obviously know i can find out most of this myself by driving one, but it'd be good to here what owners and club members think of the points ive raised
I'm sure i'll think of more, but for now...!!
