  • WA Greetings

    Hi,

Considering a golf gti or r as a second car sometime next year so I figured I'd join up and do some research through the site beforehand.

Only ever owned jap turbo 4wd cars; two GT Fours and two Evo 9s the last of which was a caged track car. Since I'm starting to get on a bit this time I'm looking for something with bit of oomph and a bit of luxury as opposed to outright speed at all costs. And preferably something that doesn't look like it's been squeezed out of someones behind like the current Evo and STI do.

Anyway look forward to learning a bit about vws.

Welcome.. quite a mixed bag of requirements there..I might suggest the best research is to go put your bum in a the seat of either of those two great cars ,, save you a lot of reading and asking 1 eyed enthusiasts...

        welcome aboard!

whats your budget? and what age or you considering?

The Audi S3 is a viable alternative too, a bit more upmarket than the GTI and R on the same chassis, and with a few tweaks will deliver around 200KW from the 1.8 or over 240KW from the newer 2L
