  • New member - a bit of a change!

    Hi guys

I'm 2 days in to my VW ownership period, having just picked up an ex-demo 2010 Jetta 118TSI DSG.

Why is this such a change? My last car (which I'll shortly be selling) is a 2008 FG Falcon G6E Turbo! Let's just say the car is a bit bigger and a helluva lot faster than the new wheels!

Reason for the change is I'm looking to downsize so that I can buy my wife a new(er) car in the remotely near future. She is currently getting around in a 2004 Ford Escape which frankly I just don't like - would love to get her into a CX9.

Anyway that's my story. I've been slowly getting my head around the Bluetooth options thread, as I currently have a bog stock Jetta and am looking to add the RCD 510 with 'premium' (whatever that means these days!) bluetooth kit.

Congratulations,in our household,we had a Territory and a Jetta, and the Jettas quality is far superior.

I think you will get to love it.

Expecially how practical, and economical it is.

Which colour did you get it in ???

What other cars did you consider ???

Post some pics up,if you can.

Can already tell the quality and NVH levels (though admittedly I was running 245/35/19 rubber on the Ford!) are far superior, and I reckon the sound quality (at least in terms of clarity) coming out of the speakers in my $30k car vs what came out of the $60k car is miles ahead.
LOVING the economy, which was really my major goal out of the changeover.

My shortlist of colours was platinum grey, blue graphite or reflex silver (in that order); it just so happened that Barloworld in Moorabbin had one in grey with about 5k on the clock, and the rest is history.

Considered a Mazda 3 SP25 (which I test drove and again, whilst it had higher equipment levels such as leather seats being the Luxury optioned model, was not even close to the VW) and also an Octavia. At the end of the day I just wasn't allowed the Octavia; the Minister for Love, War & Finance stamped her foot and proclaimed quite simply that she didn't like the look of it, plus it's a Skoda!

So far only the one photo, which I took the day I bought it
