Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Hi guys! Golf FSi Sportline

Hi guys! I have used the forum for quite a while but never really came around to the newbi corner to say hello sorry!

I'm from sydney and I drive a 2006 Golf MkV 2.0 FSi Sportline and a 2009 Audi A4 3.2. I'm actually a huge fan of the GTI buy as i'm still a P-plater i'm restricted from it until I have my full license! Looking forward to it! I love spending free time mucking around with my car upgrading parts here and there. I was also considering the new golf R, but its a turbo now.......... again RESTRICTED!!!! Should i go for a 2nd hand R32?

Pretty nice cars for a P-plater, given you're looking for another car, i'm assuming that you borrow them?
The A4 3.2 should give you an idea of the R32, given they have the same motor!

Personally i recon the 2.0FSi has more than enough power to have fun in.
I'd be looking for something that is lightweight, responsive and has a good chassis
My first 2 cars were both 70's minis, with 30odd horsepower at the flywheel... and i had bucketloads of fun in them!
and i didn't have to waste any money on speeding tickets

My uncle has a well maintained 70s mini! It is loads of fun! Tiny car with quite a fair bit of grunt!! I'm looking for something fun to trade in my golf as I would be using the Audi to get back and forth from work. If the r32 is similar to the Audi then I shall consider something else. I'm guessing the Golf GT DSG would be a good upgrade?
