Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Looking to join the vw owner family

    Hey, Newbie here.

I'm looking to buy my first VW, a golf or tig. I stumble across this board from a US forum and find it very informative and friendly. Looking forward to enjoying and talking vw here.

    Welcome to the forums mate.
    They are both worthy cars.

What spec are you looking for in both of them?

I'm a bit torn between DTI and STI. Having been driving Japanese cars and not familiar with diesel engine, I'll probably stick to petrol. Just hope gas price won't increase dramatically, Lol.

The petrols are good for tuning, you can get quite a bit of power out of them.
I have the base model petrol Tiguan and it's now a very quick piece of automotive machinery.

The diesel's get good economy but if you baby the petrol you will get very good results for economy out of it.

Are you leaning more towards the Golf or the Tiguan?

I'll give you the name of the sales guy i used, he did quite a good deal for me.
