  • Vic - Bye Bye GTi hello R (in 6 weeks anyway)

    Hi guys

It's taken me a while to register but appreciate all the info on here. I am saying goodbye to my MkV GTi and welcoming a Golf R which is currently off Western Africa on the Faust and due in Melbourne on 7 November (ordered late June). I have moved back to a manual in the R after 3 years with the DSG. Otherwise, pretty standard for me - Rising Blue 5 door with sunroof and MDI.

I've always driven hatches moving from a Peugeot 306 GTi to a 1994 VR6, then back to a Peugeot 206 GTi 180 and then to the MkV. There's a clear pattern of searching for more performance!

I plan on getting the APR stg 1, but I will wait to get a few kms first based on advice here.

    Cheers
    Golf R - 4 wheels, 2 keys, 1 engine

Congrats on your decision. Good choice.

I am surprised that no one has picked you up or your error.

In a Peugeot it is GTi....but in a VW it is GTI ...some here get a bit funny about the capital I
