Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW VW Rev problems

Hi everyone. Im a long time reader but only have just got an account. I have a golf 77TDi. My friend was driving my car last night in traffic and we were on a hill when he released the brake to drive but the car wouldnt rev past 1500 revs. luckily he realized quickly enough that something was wrong to avoid hitting the car behind. I called VW roadside assist and the guy reset the ECU but it happened again about 30 mins later. the car would rev in park but would not in sport and drive mode. If anyone has any info id really appreciate it. i have had this car for 2 months and treat it like gold so for something to go wrong is very surprising/worrying. I dont want to blab but if you know your stuff and want more info into what happened i can give it to you.

    Cheers
