Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD Mk4 Golf GTi - Hello!

    Hi everybody,

I found this forum while searching and it looks great. I have a 1999 Mk4 Golf GTi. It is white. I don't have any good pictures at the moment, but will get on to that.

Car is fairly standard, 18inch wheels (black), 2.5inch exhaust, altered induction and an APR chip.

I look forward to chatting with you all

    Welcome to the forums mate.

Those 1.8T's are a great base engine.
Thoise mods should make it a blast to drive.

    Hope to see pictures soon.
And hopefully you can come along to the dyno day.

Hey man, welcome here. White Mk4 sounds deadly!

Come along to a meet/dyno day sometime, I'd love to see the car

Thanks for the welcome. I am keen to get it on the dyno, would be interesting to see what it is actually putting out. It doesn't feel as fast as it should wth the mods that have been done, but it is a 10 year old car so it probably isn't running as good as it should!

I think you call that far from standard.
You are likely to see about 120kw at the wheels.

Any plans for suspension mods ?

Pretty sure I saw you today turning into Ridgewood (?) Street at Algester...

It was either you, or another white Mk4 GTI with black 18's.

I suppose it isn't too standard! Yep, suspension mods have been on my mind lately, but that might have to wait for now.

maca, that was probably me I live in Silkwood Street, which is off Ridgewood Road. What do you drive?
