Hey there. Been lurking for a few weeks and thought I better introduce myself. I have had a Golf GTI Mk6 5dr DSG since the end of June. So far loving the car even if the opportunity to use its potential doesn't come up very often. I'm sure I will have some questions at some point.

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

hey guys, i've driven both cars (golf mk6 gti on the track, polo 77tsi test drive) and i can honestly say..... both are brilliant.
the seats in the golf hug you from the moment you get in, the engine is revvy (im used to a re-mapped diesel with more torque, but much less peak power and at lower revs), the torque is fine, the interior is nice, and i must say it handled quite well. the interior (in my view-back seat leg room especially) is quite nice, and i dont see why 4 adults couldnt sit in the car for a long stretch, without being completely comfortable the whole way. it's a great car, and the tuneability of it makes me occasionally think of switching from diesel to petrol again.
polo 77tsi- unreal. keeping in mind that i'd prefer to drive a 100kw/200nm 1.0L turbo engine than say, a WRX or a ford xr6 turbo, i loved this car when i drove it- it's so punchy, so much go for a mere, humble 1.2L engine... lift the hood, and the engine bay is half empty! the level of comfort and refinement inside is much better than the ford fiesta, mazda 2, honda jazz or toyota yaris that i test drove with my mate who was car shopping, and the fuel economy and tuneability/ go beats all those cars.
so yeah... that's my take. whatever you guys do, please read up as much as you can on these forums- you're gonna be here anyway, and you might as well make an informed decision (not all the posts here are biased towards VW, haha)
cheers!
