Hi all,
I've been reading VW Golf forums, including this (da best), since I ordered my GTi in back March. Did not feel the urge to posting anything till recently (late last week) picking up my brand spanking new CW GTi.
Been learning a lot about VW Golfs from this forum esp the GTi. As my nickname suggests, I have converted from being a Honda driver/owner to a Vdubber now. My wife luvs it too!
Not too sure where to post this topic (couldn't find the GTi vs other cars post) as I would say the built quality of the GTi (German) trumps my previous (Jap) Honda Integra DC5 Type-R and 91 CRX V-tech, no surprises here. This obviously reflects the ride quality of all 3 cars, BUT the one thing I felt the GTi probably did not quite match the DC5 and CRX is the sharpness and directness of turning into corners. It takes more to turn the GTi steering wheel. I can think of three reasons for this:
1. The GTi being built for comfort and an every day vehicle. Hence the availability of the sportsmode (suspension) option.
2. The CRX and DC5 built and designed for track use with less of everything, weight and luxury.
3. Maybe the 18"s Detroits have something to do with it. My DC5 had 17"s and CRX 16"s.
So there you go, I know this is kinda like comparing apples to oranges.
