Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Hi

    Hello all!

Been a long time reader, but finally decided to sign up today. I've got my eye on either a MKVI GTI or a MKVI R, so I would love to hear both sides of the story from this forum!

    Hey m_f,

You would already probably have read it but there's this thread with a very detailed review of both cars.. I think it's called gti v r or something along those lines.. Personally though, I went for a test drive and absolutely loved both cars. Up until 7 hours before i purchased mine I still couldn't decide.. I decided with the MkVI GTI in the end due to the prices... The R's a beaut but just tooo expensive for me.. I was looking at high 58ks without options... Good luck with your new purchase

      Agree with the above.
Read the thread and then test drive both cars in spec as close to what you want as possible.

Having said that, i believe the GTI is more than enough for day to day use, the R would only surpass it in track days.
