Another newbie

Hi all,

My husband and I currently own a 2000 model 1.8T Passat (our second - previously had a '98 1.8T) and have found it impossible to go past the model when looking for a new car. Would love to wait for the new batch of Passats in the next year or two but our new car need is more urgent than that! Tossing up between the R36 sedan or wagon.

I'd hit up a dealer pretty quickly.
I believe they ahve stopped production of R36's as the new model is due to begin production fairly soon and i they are most likely dropping the NA 3.6L

Have you considered the Skoda Superb/Octavia RS

I can vouch for the Skoda Octavia RS, I've owned it for a little over 4 months now and it's nothing short of sublime to drive, if you can get past the badge snobbery and go and at least test drive one, you may be pleasantly surprised (available in petrol or diesel as well).

Like team_v said, they have stopped production of the R36 but i'm sure there must be some stock at Oz dealers. Hopefully you can find something close to your specs.

Otherwise the 2 Skoda options are great ones too.

Thanks for the welcome . TBH, I can't say we've considered the Skoda. Problem is, after 12 years of Passat ownership, I think we'd feel unfaithful if we went for another make LOL.

Skoda is a subsidiary brand of VW and uses the same technologies and engines.
I would be getting a skoda if i was looking for a euro wagon, the vRS and Superb wagons are both good value and full of good/safe tech

As said above, take a trip to the dealer and sit in one/test drive it and you will see it's basically a VW.
