Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    Hi guys, names Ant from W.A and I'm new to the site. I currently own a 1976 2 door mk1 golf, had a few years now and it's in bits ready for an engine transplant very soon (will upload pics shortly). This is my first Vdub and I'm absolutely hooked, the mk1 is an incredible car to drive even when it's stock standard! So I can't wait until the new one is in This is a first time engine swap for me too so it's been a great learning curve.
    Anyway, I'll keep it short but will upload all pics and mods up until present soon.

          Hey guys, sorry havebt been online for quite a while. I have a rebuilt 1.6, 8 valve ready to go in. I didn't rebuild it but the guy I got it off was a mech engineer and did all the work himself. He said it will really bark so I guess I should have faith. Current parts ready to go:twin inlet 45DCOE Webber, manifold, s/s extractors, 4 speed box, ceramic clutch, lightened flywheel and more. Will upload pics soon!
