    G'day all
Managed to find this site after searching the 'net' for 2.0TDI engine information / modifications / problems as I'm researching the purchase of an Amarok when it hits our shores.

I'm sure many an hour will be spent going over posts on this forum.
    Cheers

    Welcome to the forums.
Definitely look into a retune or the DPF delete from custom code if it is available.

      hey mate, how are things?

welcome to the forums! lots of stuff can be done to the diesel engines... what kind of car do you have, and what kind of things are you looking to do/ achieve with the car?

if you're after some good reading, i'd recommend the diesel section's ''how to run in a diesel engine'' for starters, or if you're past that, definitely check out the ''let the tinkering begin'', ''let the tinkering continue'' and ''let the tinkering get serious!" threads in the diesel section. LOTS of awesome info regarding some of the shortcomings of the stock standard diesel vw engine, and some diy fixes and modifications.

got your car chipped yet? it'd be interesting to know

      cheers,

      scotty

Thanks for the welcome team_b and Buller_Scott (scotty),
A quick overview - many years (10+) in the NT where my ride was a 2.8lt diesel Hilux that I turbo'd. It spent many a mile on a dusty red track or two towing my 5m boat until I had to relocate to Melb through an office move (work suxs sometimes). Unfortunatley (or fortunatley now with the Amarok on the way) I lunched the motor on the drive south. Long story short I wrecked the Hilux for some cash and purchased a Holden Adventra (yeah I know - don't write me off just yet) but have missed my dual cab 4x4 so started shopping. Short list became Triton, Navara and BT50 (Hilux way too much money for what you get these days but hey that's Toyota for ya - oh what a feelin', screwed over) until I started reading snippets about the Amarok. Am very impressed and can't wait to see one / drive one in the flesh. Plans are to get into the Vic high country with it, an annual trip back to the NT towing the boat and a general day to day driver. I will no doubt spend a bit of time in the modification folders looking at what can be done to this particular VW diesel if / when I buy the Amarok (hurry up and release in Oz).
        Cheers

          hey mate,

nice oiler history! i think the amarok will have quite a good uptake in australia as [not to ''doubt'' the finish and build quality of other makes, but the vw build quality should hopefully sit well with the work-horse crowd.

viezu.com should give you an idea of gains to be had from the vw diesel- i've been running a viezu [formerly chippeduk] ''track'' map on my polo tdi for a year now, and it's been reliable, torquey as hell, and nothing short of fun.

          cheers,

          scotty

As I've never been a member of the Oz VW family before how does the 'company' look upon mods to their vehicles whilst covered by factory warranty? I really like the look of rechip option. How 'tough' is the engine / g'box / diffs in the Amarok? Will they handle mods to fuel delivery and boost increases without affecting reliability?
