Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi,

I posted the previous message about the starting the old Mk1 GTI without introducing my other darling. I bought a 93 cabrio cheaply for parts but she is too nice to wreck and still running. High miles 230000 but everything is pretty tidy. Lovely silver blue with a perfect dark blue roof. Perfect forum for discussing getting her back on the road.

Where have all the Mk1s gone, even the ordinary 2 door body shells have disappeared?

hey mate, and welcome to the forums!

unfortunately, i just dont have the cojones to undertake something like a mk1 or mk2... if i did, it would help, because i adore them!

is the cabby a resto project, or is there simply minor work to be done?

    post some pics!

    cheers,

    scotty

      Hi,

Cabby is a runner with only minor stuff to make her roadworthy (I hope) way too sweet to wreck, drives real nice. The red GTI is my rusting problem child though she was running when I 'parked' her. Pics will come when I work out how to post them.
