Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi all,
We are about to have our 4th child and need to upgrade to a people mover. My preference is the VW Multivan - hubby still to be convinced. We still have some questions about it's towing abilty but hoping more experienced posters might be able to help with that one. We want a vehicle that can seat 7 and potentially tow a caravan in the near future. Don't want a 4WD as I can't see the benefit for the day to day usage and climing into the back to do up seatbelts is not my idea of fun. So the Multivan seems the best of the available options and from the posts I have read here, Multivan owners are a happy bunch!

Looking forward to acquiring some VW knowledge.

    Welcome,

i too have just joined and we seem to be a few steps ahead of you.

We have 4 kiddies with twins on the way, so we have been limited in our choice of vehicles. climbed through Kia carnivals,, Toyota Tarago's and Cruisers but really only the multivan (and caravelle) would suit our needs.....like you said, of being able to climb in and out without fiddlying with folding/sliding seats.

We pulled the trigger on a multi last week and get it this weekend. We just couldnt see any other car with the room and similar functions..... cant wait to use the remote sliding doors.

      hi there, and welcome!

what engine are you looking at?

for the 103tdi multivan, a mere $800 or so will get you a chip upgrade that will bump up the torque to ~425nm of torque, which will come in handy for moving those loads... just a thought, as i drive a little polo diesel and with a chip upgrade, driving a full car with luggage in the boot up hills has been rendered a non-issue, thanks to that diesel torque.

either way, let us know how you go!

      cheers,

      scotty
