  • VIC Skoda RS and Golf V driver

    Hi all,

After checking out VWwatercooled for last few months, thought it by time to join up and start contributing to the discussions.

In the last week have finally taken possession of a new 2010 Skoda RS wagon with all the bells and whistles. Being a new parent, the wagon of course goes to the wife and I now drive her 2005 Golf V 2.0.

When looking for a family car to carry the baby and all its stuff, we initially considered a Passat wagon, a Volvo wagon (V50) and a few suv's. We found the Tiguan's boot to be about the same size of the Golf's, so that was quickly marked off the list.

I can't actually remember how I came across the RS, but once I saw that its boot was almost 600 litres, I thought might as well give the Octavia a test drive. One ten minute drive later and our white RS wagon was on order. 2 months later, I've finally got the keys and I'm very happy with it. In terms of value for money, power, space and practicality, it is a fantastic package.

I am positive that in a few years, Skoda will sell more cars in Aus than the French marques combined.

Looking forward to reading and sharing the views of the forum.

    Cheers,

    WhiteTiger

    Well done!

We traded our Mk5 Comfortline 2TDI for a new (2007) Elagance wagon 2TDI when gnome number 2 came along.

We are still very happy with it

G'day White Tiger, welcome and congrats on your purchase. I did exactly the same thing as you, one test drive and I had to have it... I have 2 kids under 3 years of age, so a hatch (ala Golf GTi) was not on the cards, and I found Tiguan (and other compact softroaders) did not offer any larger cargo area than the hatches... but the Octavia was truly surprising, and the way the RS drove, it was an immediate purchase, couldnt be happier and neither could my wife (though she doesn't exploit the capabilities of the RS in quite the same way as I do!)
