Hi,had your forum in my bookmarks for a good while mainly for reference and for general browsage and thought it was a bit rude not to sign up and say thanks for any info ive gleaned

As a round up my name is Darren,in my mid 30s with a wheel and VAG addiction problem. Currently running about in an early more door mk2 golf daily but own a KR mk1 golf and jetta ltp as well and occasionaly(if it works)an audi A4. I do a bit of work on wheels mainly as a hobby but served my time straight out of school as a fitter/fabricator and its something ive always enjoyed.

Again,just like to say ive enjoyed browsing your forum over time,its a nice set-up and I hope to get involved properly if you dont mind a bit over seas chat

central mate,right in the middle of Glasgow and Edinburgh,got a few mates down your end on a years visa and at least one more leaving in the next month.Had got to talking with the latest escapee and we got to talking about aussie sites(hes more a jdm buff though)and thought it was fairly ignorant of me to skulk about and say nothing ever lol

my daily for work is just an old 5 dr mk2 1.6 auto




my mk1,had it @ 3yrs,currently getting a new rear axle(seam welded,poly'd and new pins/drums etc),change to konigsports and some bodywork


and my long term project jetta,owned it since I was 18 so going on half my life.Had it together twice but never legal and torn it down again


not worked on it for a while though but the last time I did I looked like this


all my family pretty much are into their vws,my brother started me off way back when when he got a mk1 1.1 5dr and ive never looked back

theres a good chance lol,im bad for posting pics all over the place whenever I change the wheels lol,the mk2 is getting as bad.I think its wore 5 sets so far this year and ive tried on about a dozen or so. Thank you for the welcome

howdy ross,yeah I recognise the sig and the car dont use svag at all these days really,wheels as always are just temporary.If I could get a swap for a mk3 tdi the car would be temporary as well hahaha. Daily travel of @70 miles in a 1.6 auto is murder on fuel

not a problem scotlands not got much to offer to you weather or show wise(we only really have two decent vw shows)but the banter is better than south of the border :p and the pubs are open longer but if anyone is heading over for one of the bigger uk shows feel free to hit me up.Happy to share a jar and stories hell,if more of my mates go down under ill pull some favours for a trip down your way lol

Things have changed, mind u I had to go south fir the biggies, bugjam, action, run to the sun and international. Best we had at home was a day at kames. Mind you seen some greats at kames, Jimmy mccrae mashing his Sierra was one memory.

Ive been to the kaimes show for the last 8 years or so barring last year while the show changed organisers and political nonsense and took a few cars round it now.Great tight technical track that your toiling to get out of third gear although theyve extended it away up the side of the golf course now. Made bugjam once and still recovering hahaha,inters has kinda died a death but its slowly picking back up but theres a lot of competition for shows down south now and im so busy I usually only make ultimate dubs at the start and edition at the end.
