  • TAS Potential newbie from hobart! need some info on caddy vans

    Hey all,

I'm currently looking at a tdi caddy manual, that is for sale on the mainland, Just a bit unsure on actually how long they are in the van bit? from the rear of the front seats to the rear doors, as i surf heaps and i want to put a false floor in it and a bed, so all my boards and camping gear can go underneath. But don't want to get a huge van like t5 as i do a lot of city driving aswell. Secondly how are they power wise? i know it's a van, but i'd get a flash tune done as soon as i bought it. I love a bit of go.
I have a fair selection of cars over the my last years of driving, 20-21 i think. But never a german car! well i should say polish car, ha
    Cheers for any info
Hopefully will be a driving member soon.

Come and see me at work, Andrew Robinson Automotive 19 Pearl St. Derwent Park 62721137.
I have a van, also have a false floor, level with the top of the inner guards that allows a double bed plus storage under.
The power is very good, economy excellent and I can demonstrate the Oettinger reflash in my van,
I love the thing and my GTI spends most of its time in the garage at home!
Roofracks are expensive but are great quality

Thanks Steve and Andrew. I will drop in next week one day, would be great to see a van in person, and a demonstration of the tune would be even better, as i'd be getting you to install it!
        Cheers guys

Seems the caddy is 1750 long in the back, which should be perfect!

Just reading redbook details can't believe how slow the tdi caddy is 13.3, 0-100 wow, having second thoughts now, not after huge power, but don't want franklin either. maybe a ss sandman is a better option on gas. hmm. Prob shouldn't have sold the 220kw forester xt, 0-100 in 5.6 seconds

And i keep hearing horror stories about vw's, One mate is having massive prob's in melb with his r32, still under warranty, gearbox has locked in gear twice, in traffic. And after 3 so called attempts to fix it, new gearbox etc. still can't find whats wrong. Hopefully he went well in court! yet to hear.

Wow, thats a slow time. I know mine is faster than that, though I have never timed it. Spose you should go for something else...
You go with your choice mate.
