  • G'day - new R36 owner

G'day, just doin the intro thing as I've just bought a new R36 Passat, nearly ended up with an Evo X MR instead, but I got the Passat. Haven't done much to it yet, I've only had it a short time, picked it up from the dealer last friday. Those dealers don't just throw you the keys anymore do they... they wanted to show me what everyone bloody button does in the thing. Jez mate, just let a bloke drive the damn thing!

Anyway, I just installed a Uniden CB radio into the car as I need to be in contact with the site office at all times. Drilling through the roof was a little tough, but I got there in the end. Boy, these krauts should do build a tough car, I reckon the roof must be made out of titanium!

I joined the forum for a little info, also if someone can help me out, I wouldnt mind knowing what the PCD is for a 2010 R36 Passat, as I'm just about to get some 22" chromies for it.

I'm gunna drop it and do a pimp look like whats really cool on a 300C, that was my first choice to the Passat, still bitchin to my Mr's about that one as I liked the look of the 300C better, and I wasnt going to wait for an Evo... I dont believe in waiting a bloody car no matter how good!

Still the Passat is growing on me slowly. While I'm asking questions, does anyone know a good plastic chromer that I can trust to do a good job. I want to plastic chrome up the mirrors and door handles to match the grille, plus it'll look a little more classy, like one of those RS Audis

    Good to meet you all

I don't think you will be able to fit 22" wheels on legally.
Also bear in mind the tyres have to be speed/load rated to a level the same or higher than stock.

Your offset is ET44 and the PCD is 5x112 but i implore you not to put massive chromies on as they just look terrible.

Mate, not too worried about the legality of it. Half the cars on the road arent 'legal' really, and none of the last 8 cars I've had would be 'legal' under the definition of the law. Cops arent looking after old farts like me, they are after young blokes hooning with doof doof in Nissans. I know my speedo will be out, but that shouldnt be to hard to do and I'll get a bloke I know to tub the guards.

As for looks... Well matey boy, that's up to me isn't it. I reckon a black golf with BBS wheels is a little boring and repetitive. From series 1 to a series 5 golf don't you think they could have maybe tried something else?

I've done the little german rocket thing years ago, when I was young and dumb and liked to show off. I had back then a ripper little car, a BMW 325 e30 that went like the clappers and it had the BBS wheels which at the time not popular (some blokes didnt know who BBS were) as everyone else had a VK calais with simmons wheels on it. You were probably just a tadpole back then when they were new!

Anyway, thanks for the info On the ET and PCD, I might be able to fit in 22" and if not I'll settle on some 20"
