Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD - NewB - Skoda Superb Combi - soon to be owner

New to this forum. Ordered a Skoda Superb Combi about 2 weeks ago and now waiting for it to arrive in September. Its been great to read posts on this forum about the Superb and about Skoda. This forum really helped in convincing me to go with the Skoda and VAG in general (choice was between Passat & Superb in the end, all other options just faded away).

First Question - I'm thinking about get the 118 TSI engine tuned by APR. This give about 20% more power and 20% more torque. Can anyone recommend this who has got in done already? My main concerns are that the extra power comes with extra fuel costs (can't have it all I guess) and that the 7 speed DSG in the Superb is only rated at 250Nm while the tuned engine puts out about 306Nm. Is the risk of over cooking the DSG a reality with that extra torque or is VAG/Skoda just being extra careful???

Looking forward to discussing how the Superb performs etc with others on these forums.

    Cheers
    Bezant
