Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD Looking to buy a Tig

I thought I would join this site as I am looking to buy a Tig. I have mostly owned Hondas but now looking for a change an want to trade in the 7yr old Jazz (other car is a 2008 CRV Luxury).

I'm considering the 125TSI in Candy white with auto (wife only has auto licence). VW options probably just comfort package and off-road technology. Will look at the leather seats and see if they are worth the extra.

After market options, definitely APR Stage 1, window tints, SatNav (probably from Northfield Moorooka) including bluetooth and reverse parking sensors, and 18' wheels (black).

I've got some great information from this site.

Just wondering what the waiting time is at the moment? I would like to pick up a car around Jan/Feb of next year. Reason being that the family and I are having a holiday in UK/Europe at the end of the year. I am trying to earn some interest off my "car" savings (I don't like to borrow).

Can anyone recommend a dealer in Brisbane? I am down at Jimboomba so I think Highway VW is the closest. Also which dealers are recommending the APR Stage 1?

    Thanks for your time.

    Cheers Lozza

    I went to Highway VW.
Speek to Andrew Jacques as he did a good deal for me.

Waiting periods are about 3-4 months for a custom build.

Not sure how the 7 speed DSG box will go off-road so you may want to think about that.

I got my stage 1 APR upgrade from Harding performance.
If that is all you are getting then it only takes 45 minutes or so.

I would look at the cost of the RNS510 system as you can get them on ebay for as low as $1150
They will not come with blutooth and reverse sensors though but are easy as to installl in the dash yourself and then get coded for sterring wheel control.

I wouldn't get the VW 18" wheels as tehy are an expensive optiona nd you can get much cheaper/better alternatives aftermarket.

Don't let your dealer put tint on for anything over $250.

Have a chat to they guys at Boetchers, at Bundamba in Ipswich, they can usually do a good deal, and they will probably have what your looking for in stock.

Thanks Team_V and Steveo_40, good point on the off-road technology, wheels will definitely be 3rd party. Had a look at some Tigs on the wharf last night (one of the perks of my job) and I don't think I would pay the extra for leather seats. Maybe the SatNav will replace that.

Boetchers or Highway, both about the same distance away. Again, thanks for the info.
