I am picking up a Golf Diesel tomorrow. Hopefully its a better car than my last as I hope to keep it for a long while. Off to look at what people say about running the engine in the first 10000 ks

Mine's a manual, but by all accounts the TDI & DSG are a match made in heaven. You'll love the TDI, I like the fuel economy of mine plus the capability to accelerate when I need to get out of a potential lane-merge conflict. BP Ultimate diesel, if you can get it, is the recommended fuel. If not, there can be a build up of algae which could possibly have a detrimental affect on the injectors. I'm having an oil service done today on mine (01/07/10) at 8700km.
