Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Heya....

The name is Drew, aka sh|tbmxrider, as you may have seen me around the various interwebz forums...

Why am I here? Good question...

A little background first.... I am 25, live in the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne, and have been a petrol-head since before I can remember....

I bought my first car when I was 14.... a 1977 Alfa Romeo Alfetta 2000 sedan...

And that set the mould for 90% of the cars I have had in the previous 11 years.... Its fair to say the rust got in the blood....

    To date, I have owned 8 Alfas (3x 33's, 4x 75's, 1x Alfetta), 1 BMW (e28 535i), 1 Toyota (SV21 Camry) and 1 Ford (BA2 XR6T), along with a few Commodore & Isuzu D-Max company cars...

As it stands, I am handing back the Isuzu around September, and putting my 230rwkw BA XR6T back on as a company car, to run out the year, then trade it in on a new/demo Euro Vehicle...

Cos even though it has 230rwkw, and smokes the rears with ease, and doesn't even handle too bad for a barge.... She aint a euro... And I have even had a good run with the car, all the things that have broken I could have in a way prevented/whatever (Blew a Gearbox up at 100,000km, threw it into a fence at 102,000kms, blew the Turbo up at 105,000kms)

Anyhow, as a New Truck Salesman, I do anywhere from 5,000km to 10,000kms in a month...

And call me crazy, but I want back in a Euro, but I can't do a hatch, which means Golf GTI/GTD is out... Customers won't question a sedan or wagon, but a hatch? Well... erm....

So, me being me, the first car on my shopping list is the Alfa 159 2.4 5cyl JTDm, in sedan or wagon.... Only problem it is a bit exxy...

So, I had a think, and seeing as I sell a VAG product (MAN Trucks), I ended up at a Skoda dealership....

And find myself quite taken with the Octavia RS Wagon, petrol or diesel(probably diesel) DSG in race blue...

And now, I am trawling the net, looking before I leap, if you like... Alfa's I know what to expect, I even have the AR badge tattoed on my back (hardcore, yo!)

Basically, just looking to see if anyones had major issues, also tuning solutions(engine, brakes, handling) for the Skoda

Anyhow, I have probably rambled enough, and I apologise in advance for anyone I may piss off with my somewhat direct style of posting at times....

And the beloved Alfa 75. This particular car lived twice *wink wink*
        How I bought it.

        Then, 2 body shells later.....

Was quite good, if very rough.... 111rwkw, 1100kg full of fuel and my fat arse, 50/50 weight balance (engine in front, gearbox/diff/rear brakes all in one transaxle) with LSD and Azenis semi-slicks

        Hopefully the pictures work!
