Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC My first VW

    Hi I'm another new member.

Just got a 2001 Mk4 Golf GTI, and am loving it its so nice to drive and now as we all do I want to start to mod it.

So where to start, do I do the exhaust, CAI filter, shocks, alloys, or do I do the chip first?

So many questions and so many upgrade paths just reading some of the posts here is great but where should I start and what would you do first if you were me?

Thanks any and all input would be greatly accepted.

chip and suspension will be your best performance mods.
Suspension and wheels will be your best aesthetic mods.

Depends on what your priorities are. Its criminal to not chip a 1.8t though!

Yeah I've been looking at chips APR and GIAC very cool, are there any others that can be done in VIC?

And from what I've read do I need to do the diverter valve straight away?

        Gday mate.

A Mk4 GTI in white WOW. Does it have a sun roof and what colour interior?

GIAC or CustomCode are good value.

Make sure you check out the evenst section for he next Melbourne meet.

            Dub Addiction

Just got a Mk4 strut brace from Dub Addiction, OMG I cant believe how good the service is, from the inquiry on postage to paying the cart and the shipping in just a couple of hours from me making a payment, and I should have it by tomorrow they are unreal.

I recommend checking them out if you want something for your VW.

Yeah got the strut bar from Tim it was here early Friday morning so very fast shipping Put it on tonight without any problems fitted nice and tight and has made driving around Richmond feel much better damm tram tracks and narrow roads, still a buzz though.

I like the existing allows for now but they sit way to far under guards, would wheel spacers bring them out enough or does it weaken the alloys and bolts??

I've made a thread with photos and questions on what I should do, have a look you will see how far the back sits in its crazy,
