Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

thank you for the info....
how much more should i expect to pay for auto transmission do you think?
i have found the car i want, asking price is $33,990 drive away.... they are selling me the story there are only a couple of cars left with the sports pack (118tsi auto) and don't want to move on price... they know i want the car....
not sure if they are feeding me BS in relation to their being no other 118 tsi with sports pack available right now.... i have a car broker getting prices for me so i suppose i wait and find out what response he gets.....
sorry for the essay, my first time buying a brand new car and i just hate the bargaining process.... so back to my main question, how much more do u think i should pay for auto transmission? anyone?
i'm in two minds, i don't want to miss out on the exact car i want and end up paying more after the financial year ends, due to the sale being on at the moment of dealers fees/stamp duty free til june 30.... or is it possible i will still get the same price after june 30?
eeeeek i'm hopeless at this! thanks for reading if you have gotten this far.

I had trouble sourcing what I was after but I think the manuals are less popular than DSGs. I like DSGs (my Passat is a DSG) even with the take off hesitation problem but basically enjoy manuals more and the cheaper price seals the deal. I can't answer as to whether the extra money for a DSG is worth it, only you can determine that - however it does open up the resale opportunities more despite some higher servicing costs. I think you should be able to haggle a bit more than the price you have been quoted - tomorrow is end of the month and often dealers shift their prices more towards the end of the month to help fill their quotas. Simply make them a reasonable offer at a price you would be happy to pay - you have nothing to lose. Knowing the price that others have paid is helpful but no guarantee of a price you may get (either higher or lower) - unfortunately it is somewhat of a 'game' but you can't blame dealers for trying to get the best price they can - they have to make a living and hopefully a good profit like everyone else.
