Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi All
Seems like an interesting forum particularly if you're a first time owner of a VW
I bought my car at an auction on impulse I had gone to look at a couple of bmw's but then saw this 4 motion. I knew nothing about them but this car for it's age was in excellent condition. anyway i got it for $10000.00 with 8 months reg and service books. To get it roadworthy took a new set of brake rotors and pads a chip in the windscreen and a new globe for 1 reversing light. I also had a major service done haldex filter and brake fluid replacement. alltogether about $1200.00.
My previous car was a 05 liberty gt but I have to say this car is better in virtually everyway.
I have had it for 6 months and the only fault so far is a noisy lifter when first started but goes away once engine is warm. I also discovered today that the thread has been stripped in the sump plug and some one has used an epoxy repair kit to fix it, probably the vw specialist that charged me $800.00 for the major service.
I would like to have a shorter clutch pedal, the deep clutch together with the long shift in the gear box makes changes a bit slow also I find 1st gear a bit too low ratio for me.
It's the little things than can be quite impressive, like the passenger grab handle has a soft close function or like i noticed the other day when i was defrosting the rear window steam rising from the external mirrors - they're heated.
Anyway I'm thrilled with it and it's not going to be my last Vw

      Hi Adam
150000 km and has since i replaced the oil and filter today has used 100ml in the last 10000km I can get 8lt per 100km on the highway and 12lt around town, like i said I am severely impressed with the condition and the performance of this car and why nobody bid for it at the auction is beyond me, I can only a assume because its such a rare version of the bora no one had heard of them - I certainly hadn't. I took a chance and for once it worked out a great car

Hi here is a couple of photo's i've included the headrest and pedals because on another thread they were having trouble working out what the oettinger came with I'm not sure but I think the external mirrors are different as well.
              Thanks for your kind welcome

Where there actually any Bora 'Oettinger' editions? Perhaps someone has bought an oettinger grill, pedals, changed the mirrors, votex wing and put an oettinger badge on it? Nevertheless, nice car!

Not sure, but if it was a fully dressed out Oetinnger wouldnt it have a differnet front lip? I did note that it is colour coded, was that something done on the sports?

                    Hi Dylan & Tazzy
When I researched the car I came across this article Volkswagen Announces Bora V6 4Motion Sport - AutoWeb News
My car is exactly as described in the article, so I'm pretty sure it's genuine
