Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • ACT New 2010 Jetta 147, No Paddle Shift

    Hi
I'm taking delivery of my 147 today.
I ordered it on the 18th August 2009
Unfortunately, its taken a while to get here
However whats worse is the the Paddle Shift Steering wheel is no longer available.

Hope the car is as good as I think

welcome to the forum..... pretty sure you'll love the car even without the paddles on the wheel.
do you know when was the paddle shift an option for the jetta??
I have an 08 jetta TSI and it didn't have paddle shift, even as an option.

Paddle shift isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Only really of use on a straight road otherwise you have to move your hands to hit the paddles anyway.

      Congrats on the purchase.

Stephen8512 has a TFSI Jetta with paddles. If you really want them, then some options include a GTI/GTI wheel from the bloke on eBay UK (from Portugal, selling them for ~$350+ shipping, plus a bit more for the paddle version). That way, you get the chunkier, sportier flat-bottom wheel and paddles.

Let me know if you are interested. I would consider buying the Mk6 wheel.

Unless you're needing a specific level of engine braking, why not just run with the standard or sports program shifting?
(I didn't worry about it when I bought my car - but little choice as I bought it as a one-owner trade in from VW dealer... There is always the GTI option route)

Bizi's Jetta TDI: Blue Graphite w. factory leather & tint, plus + Enkei Racing NT03+M + Yokohama S Drive 18s, Koni FSD, Neuspeed coils, GTI RSB + brakes, InPro mirrors, VW navi, Modshack. Come for a drive through the twisties on Saturdaze.

          I'm lovin' the Jetta,
According to the brochures I saw before I ordered it, paddle shift was an option last year and is still in the current brochure.

I bought the Sports package, 18' Charleston, 15mm lowered, dark tinted windows
          and a Sunroof
          and the leather package
          and
          and

          All really good!
havent figured out how to get the Cruise control to set a speed memory, just shows 0 when in use and bars when not...
Book says it should be set, but the book says a lot of things.... for every model ever visuallised.
          also
I thought the arrive home function lit up lights in the mirrors as, to light up around the doors but no go there either.

But the DSG! wow, how smooth is this thing?
Getting the hang of the Hill Hold assist in my driveway to get out of a morning scared the cr*% out of me until I got it right, soooo much faith in letitng the brake pedal of gently...

Great choice, on the forum - saw one on the road, and seemed impressive. What color are you going for?

One more question (pardon my ignorance) - does it come with any touchscreen navigation, xenons and/or parking/rain sensors?

                Hi
My Jetta is Graphite blue, didn't go for the SatNav, did go for bi-xenons and comes with auto lights and wipers and the parking display.
All the Jetta's are Mexican at this time of the new model run, ( I believe )

Yes,I beleive the 2010 spec Jettas are Mexican built again. The 2006 and 2007 models were, then 2008 and 2009 production switched to South Africa, and it is now back to Mexico, where the quality is as good as in any other VW plant worldwide.
