Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Hello from Fremantle

Thanks for the excellent site. I've been sniffing around it for a while in search of info and tips on Jettas. I leased a new 2008 TDI 2.0 last year only to have it peppered by hail in March this year. The insurance company wrote it off and offered it to me very cheap. Given that there is no structural damage I decided to buy it, so now I have a top notch, albeit dimpled, Jetta that I will probably drive into the ground (over the next 20 years or so!) Hope I don't lower the tone of Jettadom too much.

    welcome aboard.

out of curiosity, how are you going with insurance of the car for the future.

Ive heard stories of insurance companies refusing to offer fully comprehensive insurance on hail damaged cars?

I had my Jetta written off in Melbourne.
Whoever buys it will get a brilliant car,and it was absorlutely immaculate prior to the storm...

        Insurance for hail damaged Jetta

        Hi Gareth,

Thanks for the speedy welcome. You are right. Some insurance companies refuse even to do Theft and Fire insurance for hail damaged cars. HBF however was willing to do comprehensive - up to $10,000, which happens to be the dutiable value of the car. I really don't know how they will deal with a future claim which involves a dingle, or god forbid, another hailstorm.

Perhaps this discussion should switch to the relevant thread.

              option 2 sounds quite appealing.

you should pop in and say hello over at ozAudi Australian Audi Enthusiast Forum - Powered by vBulletin

and dont limit your search for cars in WA. I bought mine in Brissy and had it roadfreighted over. there are 10 times more cars over east and so proces tend to be a bit more keen, and with a better range to decide from
