Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    NSW first time vw buyer - advice please

    hey there,

    really like this forum - so informative and good fun too ....

    My son is after a car update ... the ol' 1990 Pulsar (Roger) is nearly dead and we need a replacement.
    I found a Golf GLE, black with cream leather interior, 2000 model, auto. comes with log books/full service history (was serviced at vw dealer) .. 111400 km on the clock .... really nice looking vehicle ...
    any advice or things to look out for ??? was hoping to take it for a test drive tomorrow ....
    he's driving up to 450km a week mainly on the motorway so we need something that will not cost a fortune in fuel.
