Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    VIC First day....I'm so nervous!

    Hi All,

    Great forum and thanks to those who make it possible.

    I am from the great driving state of Victoria but have lived in most parts of Australia with my job. Now for the bit that probably interest you the most....well may interest you slightly anyway. I haqve just ordered my first VW (we had a bug when I was a kid, great memories) a Mk VI GTI DSG Carbon Steel, sunroof, satnav, rev camera, MDI. Really excited about it, I find out tomorrow on the delivery date, so touch wood it is not to much time to endure. I'm told it is on the wharf awaiting shipping.

    Can anyone tell me what (if anything) I should be looking for on the predelivery inspection, and if it is possible to get it serviced anywhere other than VW as I have a great mechanic, without voiding warranty???

    Very interested in any track days that may come up.

    Welcome to the forums mate.

    Sounds like a great car.
    Shipping took about 4 weeks for my car from germany.
    Then expect 3 weeks for customs, adr, dealer prep and then you should be right to pick it up unless customs holds it up.
