Hi everyone,
I am looking to purchase a VW golf with 25,000kms on the clock. I've done the history/revs check and everything check out ok. Although as the vehicle is under 3 years old there is no odometer history with the rta.
There is just two things that are not sitting right. The car has four 'Goodyear' tyres (185 65 15) on it but the spare in the boot has a continental on it?
I have two other VW's and they have conti's on them.
I've questioned the current owner and he assures me that he has no idea why.
The other thing that isn't sitting right is, the plastic protection over the engine has a brown stain which looks like heat of some sort right around the oil filler cap. Should this be there in a vehicle if it has travelled only 25,000kms?
I am just a little concerned as he also told me that he has been in the motor trade for the past 20 years and could possibly know all the tricks in the book.
Is there ANY way that the kms are able to be reset. I remember reading many years ago that providing the car was under 300kms the dealerships had a way to reset the odo back to zero.
Has the car been reset multiple times possibly requiring a new set of tyres?
Any input will be much appreciated.
